In Software for Science individual students or teams of students conduct research on the use of cutting edge computer technology to assist scientists in their experiments. One of the pillars of scientific research is its reproducibility. Due to the extensive use of software and specific hardware this is more and more problematic. Best practices for scientific programming will be taught and realised in projects for renown scientific institutes such as CERN or ASTRON. As of 10 March 2017 the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is an associate member of the ALICE collaboration which is part of CERN.By choosing specific competences to develop, each student creates an individual path for personal growth in the technical and social domain.
